Carrie is a 2008 graduate of Surry Community College with an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Business Administration and Accounting. She has a crazy little fur child spaniel mix named Maggie, a calico cat named Rhaenyra, and several outside cats. Her favorite hobby is reading a good book in the sunshine.

Kelly

Vet Assistant

Meet Kelly, our animal-loving Vet Assistant. She began her journey in vet medicine back in 2021 and has been at SRAH since October 2023. She received her bachelor’s in biology from Radford University. What makes Kelly truly special is her huge heart and the way she always does the right thing, even when it’s a tough call.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, fishing, or buried in a good book.

Laura

Receptionist

Laura, the welcoming face at SRAH since August 2023, brings her enthusiasm and compassion to the receptionist role. Currently attending Surry Community College, Laura has found her calling in veterinary medicine, taking immense pride in making patients feel better and going above and beyond to assist them. Her genuine love for animals shines through, as she often places their well-being before her own.

During her leisure moments, Laura cherishes time spent with her dogs, pet pig, donkeys, and cattle in the pasture. She also finds tranquility in the company of her fiancé, lounging in the hammock and admiring the scenic mountains.

Makayla

Practice Manager

Makayla is the dedicated Practice Manager at State Road Animal Hospital, bringing her passion for veterinary medicine and exceptional organizational skills to the forefront since December 2020. Her commitment to providing top-notch care for patients and their owners is unwavering.

Makayla embarked on her academic journey at Surry Community College, where she earned her Associate in Science degree in the fall of 2018. Her thirst for knowledge and dedication to her field led her to Sweet Briar College, where she achieved her Bachelor’s degree in Biology in the fall of 2020. These educational milestones have equipped her with a solid foundation to excel as a Practice Manager.

What sets Makayla apart is her genuine desire to connect with clients, empathizing with them as fellow pet owners. She understands the special bond between humans and their animal companions and strives to make each client feel heard and understood. Her approachability and ability to relate personally make her an invaluable member of the State Road Animal Hospital team.

Registered Veterinary Technician

Annette graduated from Murray State University in 2012 as a Registered Veterinary Technician. Annette and her husband, Dane, have two children, Emma and Harold. They also have two cats, Buckwheat and Alfafa, and a Jack Russell Terrier, Darla.

Kimberly is a seasoned and compassionate Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) at State Road Animal Hospital, bringing an impressive 15 years of dedicated experience to her role since she began her journey in 2008.

Jessica hopes to begin her academic journey at Appalachian State, where she will spend her first four years before transferring to NC State to pursue her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree.
